Hi Icamtuf, I just listened to your Amp Hour podcast from Melbourne, Australia and I loved it. I just ordered your book from No Starch. I am a real struggling electronics beginner / intermediate level hobyist. I can use a multimeter, oscilloscope (just basics), some soldering etc. That said I find electronics very complicated. Even say a basic circuit like the classic Multivibrator Oscillator circuit even to understand circuit that you need to understand transistors, capacitor discharging / charging capabilities, resistors and current and that's a basic circuit. I enjoy reading Silicon Chip Magazine however a lot goes over my head. I feel for me to progress more is hard so look forward to fully reading your book. Thanks again

Czy będzie polskie wydanie?

To pytanie bardziej do polskich wydawców, niż do mnie.

Niestety sytuacja na rynku książek technicznych jest dość kiepska. Do mojej poprzedniej książki prawa kupiło wydawnictwo PWN.

This is great news!

I have two questions:

- If I order your book today, I will receive the first ten chapters as PDF files today and the rest of the chapters as PDF files in May. I will also receive the printed book in September. Did I understand correctly?

- Do you plan to publish a Polish translation of your book as well?

You have two options on nostarch.com. You can order ebook formats for $24 or a physical hardcover for $30. In both cases, you get instant access to a pre-release PDF. For the ebook option, you will also get the final version in all the usual ebook formats (ePub, etc) in September. For the hardcover option, you will get the ebook formats + a physical copy in the mail.

Translation - that's up to publishers in .pl. I don't think we have anything lined up right now.

I think I'm going to preorder anyway but how is this book compared to The Art of Electronics.

This is awesome. Right now I’m kinda in a hard spot to buy more stuff (perhaps in a week with the payroll?) but certainly looking for the hardcover edition.

Also first thing it came to mind looking at the cover art was the woman enjoying the smell coming out of a vent hole (I still enjoy a “sniff” out of my steam deck from time to time xDD)

This is excellent! Instant preorder, because I know how many gaps I have in my education.

(Maybe I shouldn't care, AI will replace the need for thinking, right?)

lcamtuf's avatar

You can buy it and have your AI agent read it to you!

Somehow, that sounds even worse… What a world to live in!

That sounds fantastic. Hope it does well for you!
